The drum is the constraint
An 8×10 is a lot of textile. A domestic machine under about 8 kg will not turn it, and a rug that does not turn does not get clean, it gets soaked in one place and stays dry in another.
- Under 8 kg: wash the small sizes at home, take the 8×10 to a laundrette with a large machine.
- 8 kg and up: the 8×10 is possible on its own, cold, gentle, nothing else in the drum.

Drying is the slow part
Air-dry flat or over two lines so the weight is shared. A wet low-pile rug is heavy and will stretch if it hangs from one edge. Do not tumble it. Heat is what damages a non-slip backing.
Give it a day longer than you think before it goes back down, because a backing that is still damp underneath will mark a wooden floor.
