What works, in order
- Lay it flat, pile up, in the room where it will live. Warmth and time do most of the work.
- Reverse-roll the stubborn folds: roll the rug backwards against the crease for a few hours.
- Weight the corners with books or furniture legs for a day or two.
- Only then, light steam under 390 °F, moving constantly and never resting the iron on the pile.

Give it three to seven days before deciding it will not flatten. Most of what looks permanent on day one is gone by day four in a warm room.
What does not work
Folding it the other way and leaving it folded. Soaking it to relax the fibres. Resting a hot iron directly on faux wool, that glazes the pile and the shine does not come out.
The colour note
One thing to check while it is flattening: the product page title says Black, and buyers describe a beige. Look at the swatch of the exact variant you ordered rather than the headline colour, and if it is not what you expected, that is a return-window question rather than a steaming question.
